Thinking of Acai Berry for Losing Belly Fat? Think Again

Recent study's suggests millions of people are destined to be frustrated. The Acai berries craze that has been featured on news stories and advertised all over the net and television promises users will lose belly fat and weight without any damaging side effects that are related with most weight loss supplements may not be all that it's built up to be. The study behind the Acai berries implies that while it is extremely healthy, possibly one of the healthiest on the planet, it lacks the obligatory components for losing belly fat without additional factors.

The berries are cultivated mainly in Central and South America and only recently have gained extreme popularity as it has been touted by some advertisers as the best supplement available to lose belly fat. These fruits are rich in antioxidants and have the power to protect cells against "free radicals" as well as preventing heart disease and battling cancer.

Yet, its health properties and its popularity as a weight loss supplement has caused more marketers to publicize this product as a God sent fruit; with the capabilities of reversing diabetes and curing additional diseases. Unfortunately, the majority of these claims, especially its ability to eliminate belly fat, have been proven unfounded.

Even the alleged first "endorser" of the fruit, Oprah, has hired lawyers to look into the statements fabricated by manufacturers who claim that Dr. Oz (a regular guest on Oprah's program) has recommended the fruit for weight loss. "Neither Ms. Winfrey nor Dr. Oz has ever sponsored or endorsed any acai berry, resveratrol, colon cleanse or dietary supplement product" was posted on Oprah's own website (www.Oprah.com/health/The-Truth-About-Oprah-Dr-Oz-Acai-Resveratrol-and-Colon-Cleanse).

According to some fat loss websites, who sell Acai Detox kits and additional variations that suggest it has the ability to burn belly fat, claim that users can burn as much as 20lbs in a week or lose more weight using it than diet and working out alone.

"There is not any single food, including the super-healthy acai berry, that can provide the solution to weight loss. To lose weight, you need to control calories with a healthy lifestyle approach that includes plenty of physical activity, nutritious foods, and adequate rest" says David Grotto, RD, author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life.

Regrettably, products outside the scope of those which are prescription or over the counter medicines are not thoroughly regulated. This allows manufacturers to be able to make these outrageous claims without fearing any possible reprimanding. When it all boils down, the safest and most natural way to learn how to lose belly fat is dieting correctly and exercise.

Great hub. Unfortunately with losing weight and belly fat everybody wants a quick solution. It didn't get there in a week, and it isn't going to leave in a week. It is sad that people spend soooooooo much money on products that later are proven to not work.

You're right! Reality is, when it comes to weight loss a lot of us are just looking for the quick fix and believe that that quick fix is out there. So we buy product after product thinking "this is the one!" In the end, diet and exercise wins the race!
